The prototype of a Chef is being developed in PHP/MySQL and merely as a proof of concept. The main structure is working and there are some sample products in the database. If you like to see a product that has been added for demo purposes, type in "Plus" and select the product that comes up. Feel freely to browse through this prototype but please don't add or change any products yet, it is still being use for development.
To do
- Re-designing the programming environment to handle several thousands of simultaneous requests.
- Creating a save login system.
- Collecting the pruductnames, barcodes and prices, retailer names and locations and the according labels and certificates.
Future opportunities
- Collecting buying patterns based on the ACHEF categories and compare these with friends on social networking sites (Facebook, MySpace, Hyves) to introduce the element of competition.
- Warn when a products contains elements of species that are threatend with extinction.
- Collecting the ingredients of products and connect these to the Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) and the research done by Corinne Couget about E-Numbers.
- Estimate the total CO2 emission of the production process and display a map with the countries of origin.
